Meat, Poultry & Seafood
Meat is animal flesh that is eaten as food. Humans have hunted and killed animals for meat. The advent of civilization allowed the domestication of animals. They are:
- Chickens
- Sheep
- Pigs
- Cattle.
Poultry are domesticated birds kept by humans for their eggs, their meat or their feathers.
Seafood is any form of sea life regarded as food by humans. Seafood includes:
- Fish
- Shellfish.
Fast Food
Fast food is a mass-produced food that is prepared and served very quickly. The food is typically less nutritionally valuable compared to other foods and dishes.
Fast food includes:
- Fish and chips
- Sandwich
- Pita
- Hamburger
- Fried chicken
- French fries
- Onion ring
- Chicken nugget
- Taco
- Pizza
- Hot dog
- Ice cream
- Salad
Fruits
Fruits are the means by which angiosperms disseminate seeds. Humans and many animals have become dependent on fruits as a source of food.
In common language usage, “fruit” normally means the fleshy seed-associated structures of a plant that are sweet or sour, and edible in the raw state, such as apples, bananas, grapes, lemons, oranges, and strawberries.
Vegetables
In everyday usage, a vegetable is any part of a plant that is consumed by humans as food as part of a meal. It normally excludes other food derived from plants such as fruits, nuts, and cereal grains.
Types of Meals
There are three main meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Breakfast
Breakfast is the first meal of a day, most often eaten in the early morning before undertaking the day’s work.
Breakfast menus to exist in most places, but the composition of this varies widely from place to place, and has varied over time, so that globally a very wide range of preparations and ingredients are now associated with breakfast.
Lunch
Lunch is a meal typically eaten at midday. Lunch is commonly the second meal of the day, after breakfast. The meal varies in size depending on the culture, and significant variations exist in different areas of the world.
Dinner
Dinner usually refers to the most significant and important meal of the day, which can be the noon or the evening meal. However, the term “dinner” can have many different meanings depending on the culture; it may mean a meal of any size eaten at any time of the day.
Drinks
Common types of drinks include:
- Water
- Milk
- Juices
- Coffee
- Tea
- Soft drinks
- Alcoholic drinks
