ALL vs. EVERY

Inglês Ensino Fundamental

Hi folks,

I'd like to show you the difference between the words ALL and EVERY, as the students sometimes simply do not know which one they are supposed to use.

So, here we go:

Both words have similar meanings, but EVERY is always followed by a word in the singular form whereas ALL is always followed by a word in the plural form.

Example:

All kids dream of going to Disneyland.

Every kid dreams of going to Disneyland.

ATTENTION

We must also take into account that ALL can also be followed by a word in the singular form, which means the whole.

Note that we also use EVERY to indicate frequency.

Example:

She had to work all day.

She had to work every day.

Hope you enjoy the tips!
