1. HOW WE CAN DEFINE THE COMPARATIVE AND SUPERLATIVE?

The comparative  is the form to used compare two things(nouns , people, places, or things).

The superlative is the form used when we speak about something of the highest order, quality or degree.

O comparativo é utilizado para comparar em mesmas proporções de quantidade, ex: pessoa-pessoa, coisas-coisa, já o superlativo é utilizado para fazer comparações mas em proporções diferentes, ex: pessoa-grupo de pessoas, coisa-grupo de coisas.

Exemplo de comparativo: Marcos is smarter than João. (pessoa-pessoa)/ Marcos é mais inteligente que João.

Exemplo de superlativo: Marcos is the smartest in his classroom. (pessoa-grupo de pessoas)/ Marcos é o mais inteligente de sua sala de aula.

Quando vc usa comparativos (verb to be + adj + THAN)  vc compara negativamente ou não.

Quando se usa superlativo, vc tiva determinado elemento de um grupo e o destaca dos demais. (Negativamente, ou não)

ex: Nina is the smartest girl in the class - Nina é a garota mais esperta da sala.

ex: Tom is the dumbest guy I've known. - Tom é o cara mais estúpido que conheço.

1 - Comparatives nós usamos quando queremos comparar coisas, pessoas, cidades, situações em geral. Superlatives utilizamos quando queremos mostrar superioridade ou inferioridade de um indivíduo frente à um grupo.
