 Kirk Douglas was, undoubtedly, one of the most popular stars of Hollywood's Golden Age. Mr.Douglas was born Issur Danielovitch but then he chose Kirk Douglas as his screen name which he considered more appealing to his fans. His film career lasted for seven decades! He got some Oscar nominations for his performances in several films but he never won the coveted Oscar award.

However,in 1996 Kirk Douglas was honored with the Academy Awards for 50 years as "a creative and moral force in the movie industry".
