Not only English but also Portuguese speakers have lots of different expressions for saying " Goodbye ",don't they ? Everybody knows that some expressions are more formal than others.There are also casual phrases and slang goodbyes that native speakers use when saying goodbye to someone which foreign learners sometimes are surprised to listen to them because they are not familar with them.
