The prefix un- is most of the times used
to express the opposite of some adjectives.
For example :
comfortable uncomfortable
That sofa was comfortable but her chair
was rather uncomfortable,wasn't it ?
happy unhappy
How do you feel on a rainy day:
happy or unhappy ?
fair unfair
afraid unafraid
believable unbelievable
forgettable unforgettable
familiar unfamiliar
Sometimes they are used with the past
participle of some verbs which make them
adjectives then.
Examples :
known unknown
