Você sabe como usar o verbo modal SHALL? O verbo “shall” é usado quando se oferece um favor, quando se faz uma sugestão ou quando se faz uma ameaça ou uma promessa. Seu significado varia de acordo com o contexto. “Shall” é mais usado em um inglês mais culto, mais formal e em documentos legais. É a versão formal de should (deveria).

| He shall pay for this. | Ele pagará por isto. |

| You shall have the car. | Terás o carro. |
| I shall see that you get the book. | Vou certificar-me de que tu tenhas o livro. |
| SHALL (exprimir uma proibição) | |
| You shall not go out tonight. | Não sairás esta noite. |
| You shall not see her again. | Não deverás vê-la de novo. |
| SHALL (fazer uma concessão) | |
| He shall have what he wants. | Ele terá o que quiser. |
| SHALL (exprimir uma ordem) | |
| Payment shall be made by cheque. | O pagamento deverá ser efectuado por cheque. |
| The Vendor shall notify the Purchaser in writing. | O Vendedor deverá notificar o Comprador por escrito. |
