Every rule has its exceptions, right ?
When we know there are rules and regulations,
we expect everybody to follow them and res-
-pect them too.
However ,we also know many people disrepect
the rules and regulations and some even prefer
to ignore them !
When we are learning languages,
their grammar rules help us not to
make mistakes, don't they ? It is much
better to keep them in mind then.
Let´s take a look at some of the rules
for singular and plural forms of nouns in
english,ok ?
Most nouns get an "s" in their plural forms.
Examples:
That boy has only one black cat,but Mary has
three white cats in her big house.
Bob buys a book everyday. There are hundreds
of books in his private library.
If the nouns end in "y" preceeded by consonants,
then you have to replace the "y" by " i " and add
+ es.
Examples :
baby (sing.) babies (pl.)
hobby (sing.) hobbies(pl.)
policy (sin.) policies (pl.)
The company´s policies cannot be dis-
-repected or ignored,be careful !
Many people have different hobbies.Some
collect boxes,others collect stamps.How about
you ? Do you have any hobby ?
Now look at some exceptions to this rule below :
Can you make up sentences with them ?
oxen geese
By the way ,there is a famous song : People
which was a great hit in the 70s .
In its lyrics there is the plural of child that
has an irregular plural form too.Listen to it ,
sing along and find it,ok ? Enjoy !
