 What have you noticed about the four selected photos above? How similar are they?  These young people are part of the new social media phenomenon called : "sadfishing".

 

Have you seen this term before? If you have checked Macmillan Blog recently, you have already read about "sadfishing".If you haven't read the Blog, you can read about this new social media behavioral trend by clicking on the links below the next paragraph.

 

This term "sadfishing" is used to describe the behavior of someone making exaggerated claims about their emotional problems to gain sympathy from their followers. Can you imagine what happens to these young people after sharing their private problems with their followers? Do you believe they may be playing with fire? Why shouldn't they do that? Do young Brazilians also have this online behavior?

Sadfishing Is A World Wide Problem. It Exists In Brazil, In The U.K, U.S, All Around The World. For Me, Sadfishing Can Be Very Dangerous Because They Can Make Depression Even Worse Than Actually Is.

I think that teenagers that get involved with sadfishing , expose their private lives to people that can bully them. Their problems can be even worse after that . They are playing with fire!! Probably in Brazil teenagers are also part of this new trend of online users: sadfishing.
