Jet lag is not the same as Jackleg ,is it ?

Inglês Listening Pronunciation British English

Of course not ! Although  these two words jet lag and jackleg sound very similarly , their spellings and meanings are  totally different ! If listeners  do not pay attention to what  the foreign speakers say or ignore the context of this noun ( jetlag ) and this adjective (jackleg ) there can be a great misunderstanding in their communication.

Similar-sounding words can be especially confusing for people who speak english as a second language. It is not uncommon for foreign students get confused with the right pronunciation while they are listening to authentic conversations and informal chats. It is one of the most frequent complaints : english words are hard to be understood ; americans and british people speak too fast ! Well, brazilians do not speak slower when they are chatting or having a conversation,do they ?
