 Judo means " soft path ", a definition that resonates with the lessons of Jigoro Kano,creator of the sport,which develops not only the technique but also the mental discipline.

Judo's debut in the Olympic Games was at Tokyo 1964.The Japanese are the sport's greatest winners,with 72 Olympic medals.

Women started competing at Barcelona 1992 and currently fight in seven weight categories,just like men.Just now has more than 20 million practitioners in over 20 countries.

The score varies according to the type of technique: ippon,wazari and yuko.

Majlinda Kelmedi is the judo fighter number one in the world,in the 52kg category and is the two time World Champion and European Champion as well.Her birthplace is the city of Peja in Kosovo.Kelmedi,who was her nation's flag bearer at the opening ceremony on Friday 5th august 2016 in Rio de Janeiro ,says the victory is "  huge "not only for her but for Kosovo as a whole.She has got the gold medal in her latest fight !
