Rio's mayor vs Aussies

Why has Eduardo Paes ,the mayor of Rio de Janeiro ,brought the Australian kangaroos into the news ? Australia's delegation refused to move into Rio apartments in Barra da Tijuca due to a great number of serious problems in and out of them .They have complained about blocked toilets,leaking pipes,exposed wiring,darkened stairwells where no lightining has been installed and dirty floors in need of a massive clean ! Then the mayor tried to joke with the situation and said that if he could ,he would bring them a kangaroo to make them happy !

The head of the Australian team Kitty Chiller answered at once they did not need a kangaroo at all.They needed plumbers instead !The mayor apologized and acknowleged Australia's " was the worst building " .Fortunately most of the problems were solved and the Australian delegation gave the mayor a tiny " boxing kangaroo" doll as a sign  of a truce.It also said  it's now happy  with its rooms  at Rio Olympic Athletes Village.
