Inglês Conversação Geral Básico Intermediário Avançado

Whenever sports and games are talked about and athletes are criticized or idolized not only by their fans but also by the media, words such as arms, legs, heads, feet, and knees are mentioned, aren't they? Foreign students and learners sometimes cannot understand at once the "buzzwords" that appear in some reports though. Why not? These buzzwords become very popular, especially when they relate to a particular activity or subject and their context may help immediate understanding or not (mainly if you are not always connected with the USA News).

However, interested learners can check these buzzwords at https://www.macmillandictionary.com/ anytime.It is important to check the buzzwords because sometimes they can not be understood at once.

If you read the example below without looking at the photograph and reading the report about this impressive happening, can you understand immediately why the players have locked their arms and taken a knee? Why have so many players in different countries repeated this gesture? Which message could their bodies express all over the planet?

Example :

" The players locked arms and took a knee ahead of the National Anthem before the game "
