Unimaginable somersaults !

Gymnastics has been an Olympic sport since Ancient Greece.With movements that demand great strength,flexibility and balance,the athletes' greatest challenge is to make everything seem simple,demonstrating grace and lightness to the judges.

There are six apparatus in the men's competition ( floor,vault,horizontal bar,parallel bars, pommel horse and rings ) and four apparatus in the women's ( floor,vault,uneven bars and balance beam ).

The score is given by nine judges who assess the level of difficulty and the technical quality of the movements performed and the perfect execution of the exercises in each event.Medals are distributed in individual events- in which gymnasts compete in all apparatus-by team and for each apparatus.

Arthur Zanetti won the gold medal and became the first brazilian olympic champion in artistic gymnastic in London Olympic Games in 2012.Daniele Hipólito became the first Brazilian gymnast to win a world medal in 2001.

In 2016 the brazilian women team seized the opportunity with style,putting in a confident and energetic performance that delighted the home crowd.It was not only Daniele Hipólito who enchanted the crowd.Flavia Saraiva who is only 16 years old also made everybody cheer and applaud her great performance in the Rio Olympic Arena on August 7th,2016.

The gymnasts said the support of the crowd was crucial to their success.
